Notes: This garnet may be either the almandine or spessartine species. The smaller garnets are very pink, so perhaps spessartine. The tourmaline, under magnification, has some brown transparency, so may be dravite.

The rough surface of many pseudo-cubic goyazite crystals are actually an array of lustrous aligned faces that strongly reflect light at the right incident angle. This affect is present on two of the small crystals on this photograph.

Notes: This is the only schorl crystal that I have field collected that formed in a pegmatite vug.
The Keyes Mines are a group of six mined pegmatites. Keyes #1 is the largest and most heavily collected of these. Keyes #4 is a relatively small cut, mostly overgrown, in a deep woods setting.
