This page is an alphabetical photo gallery of minerals from the Audley Quarry, Merrimack, NH. The quarry was a source of crushed rock for Audley Corp. construction projects. It was active from the early 1990's to 2024. The multi-acre site is now the location of a large trucking terminal. The photos in this gallery were included in my May 2024 NEMC talk. 14 species, 30 mineral photos, 4 site photos. |

Photo with Canon T3i, with Nikon Plan 10 microscope objective. 24 image stack. |

Species: ANATASE with unknown Locality: Audley Quarry, Merrimack, NH Specimen Size: 2.5 mm Field of View Field Collected: Tom Mortimer 2019 Catalog No.: u2242 Notes: There are a few smaller synchysite-like crystals on the specimen. Only one like this I found. I initially identified this as synchysite-Ce, by similarity to the analyzed Mine Falls Park synchysite-Ce. The host rock at MFP is same as at Audley, and only three miles distant. An october 2019 EDS analysis (BC360) showed no REE's were present. Ca, Si, Al, Mg, Na were present. Nothing matches this very well. |

Species: BROOKITE Locality: Audley Quarry, Merrimack, NH Specimen Size: About a 0.1 mm brookite crystal Field Collected: Tom Mortimer 2019 Catalog No.: u2243 Notes: There are several tiny brookite crystals on this specimen. Some are a bit larger, but this one has terminated edges all around. This photo is at the highest magnification of my equipment. The photo shows details I cannot see with my Meiji stereo scope. |
