Locality: Iron Mtn., upper adit pit, Bartlett, NH Specimen Size: 1.2 mm red octahedral danalite crystal with quartz. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: u1012 Notes: These danalite crystals were found totally embedded in quartz. Breaking out undamaged crystals was very difficult. For every good one salvaged, several were broken. |

Locality: Iron Mtn., upper adit pit, Bartlett, NH Specimen Size: 1.7 mm complex danalite crystal with quartz. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: u895 Notes: This danalite face appears to be a group of three intergrown crystals. |

Locality: Iron Mtn., upper adit pit, Bartlett, NH Specimen Size: Field of view about 5 mm. Partially exposed yellow crystal in center may be helvite. Danalite forms a series with helvite and genthelvite. Encyclopedia of Minerals states danalite may be "lemon yellow." Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: u892 Notes: Many of the Iron Mtn. danalite crystals have a greenish-yellow helvite core. A broken crystal cross-section, lower center, shows a red rind around a glassy yellow core. An article by D. Burt, American Mineralogist vol. 65, pages 355-380, 1980, notes that at the Iron Mtn., Bartlett, New Hampshire locality, "the danalite crystals are zoned, with helvite cores and danalite rims." |

Locality: Iron Mtn., upper adit pit, Bartlett, NH Specimen Size: Cross-section of penetration pair of zoned 2 mm danalite crystals showing a danalite red outer rind with yellow-green helvite core. Field Collected: Tom Mortimer Catalog No.: u1030 Notes: A excellent example of a helvite core surrounded by a danalite rim. |
