However the Excalibur analysis stated "EDS cannot easily distinguish this phase from several other common copper sulfates... "

CERUSSITE Mineral Hill, Wakefield, NH 1 mm hexagonal, prismatic, crystal	Species: CERUSSITE Locality: Mineral Hill, Wakefield, NH Specimen Size: 1 mm hexagonal, prismatic, crystal Field Collected: A Gene Bearss collection specimen Catalog No.: Notes: There are actually a pair of parallel hexagonal cerrusite crystals here. But from this view, the rear crystal is obscured. This extreme prismatic form is unusual for the Mineral Hill locality. Gene was uncertain of the species identity, so it was analyzed. The EDS analysis indicated the species was cerussite. (The vertical lines on the plot are Pb markers. Elements lighter than Na do not show on plot).

Field Collected: Gene Bearss (2008) Catalog No.: A Gene Bearss collection specimen Notes: A similar specimen field collected by Gene Bearss at the Mineral Hill locality was EDS analyzed to be Corkite. Beudandite: PbFe₃(AsO₄)(SO₄)(OH)₆ and Corkite: PbFe₃(PO₄)(SO₄)(OH)₆ are a mineral series. For the present both of these species are combined on this web site under Beudantite.

(2.5 cm full specimen view) Field Collected: Gene Bearss Catalog No.: u1256 Notes: This specimen and one other are the only NH examples seen by the author which show distinct hexagonal covellite crystals. Most crystals in the magnified view are standing on edge - hexagonal thin plates. More typical NH specimens are simple covellite crusts.
